What Is RTP?
RTP stands for Return to Player. It’s a percentage that tells you how much of all money wagered on a slot the game pays back to players over millions of spins.
Example: A slot with 96% RTP pays back €96 for every €100 wagered over its lifetime (across all players, all sessions). The remaining €4 is the house edge. This is a long-run mathematical average — in a single session, anything can happen.
RTP vs Volatility
RTP and volatility are two separate concepts often confused:
- RTP — Long-run payout rate. Higher RTP = more of your money returned over time.
- Volatility — How frequently and in what sizes wins occur. High volatility = rare but large wins. Low volatility = frequent small wins.
A low-volatility slot with 94% RTP vs a high-volatility slot with 96% RTP — the high-volatility slot is better value long-term but will have long dry spells.
